Jamal Nxedlana (b. 1985, South Africa)  is a visual artist working primarily in video and photography. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nxedlana's multifaceted creativity has given shape to a great variety of projects. As an artist, his work has primarily been as a founding member of CUSS, an artist group that creates collaborative digital and material art. Drawing on the surrounding environment of contemporary, post-post-colonial South Africa, they create works that respond to the cultural, commercial and technological super-hybridity of their country. Nxedlana is also the founder and creative director of Bubblegum Club, a digital publisher and content production studio that offers an alternative narrative on South African art and society through the lense of youth culture. Jamal Nxedlana’s photography work is featured in The New Black Vanguard, a publication and internationally traveling exhibition curated by Tilda Swinton addressing the radical transformation taking place in fashion and art to- day.

Jamal Nxedlana (1985, Sudáfrica), es una artista visual que trabaja principalmente con vídeo y fotografía. Reside en la ciudad de Johannesburgo, Sudáfrica, la polifacética creatividad de Nxedlana le  ha dado forma a una gran variedad de proyectos. Como artista, su trabajo ha sido principalmente como miembro fundador de CUSS, un grupo de artistas que crea arte material y digital de forma colaborativa. Tomando inspiración del entorno de la Sudáfrica contemporánea poscolonial, crean obras que responden a la super -hibridación cultural, comercial y tecnológica de su país. Nxedlana es también el fundador y el director creativo de Bubblegum Club, una editorial digital y un estudio de producción de contenidos que ofrece una narrativa alternativa sobre el arte y la sociedad sudafricanos a través del prisma de la cultura juvenil. El trabajo fotográfico de Jamal Nxedlana aparece en The Black Vanguard, una publicación y exposición itinerante internacional cuyo trabajo curatorial realizó Tilda Swinton que aborda la transformación radical que se está produciendo en la moda y el arte actual.
