Mexico in the 1960´s, a period governed by Adolfo Mateos and later Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, marked by strong social repression. It was a time when, while the construction of large housing units for social development and new hospitals was praised, great repression against students and railroad movements were the agenda. 

Artists such as Mathias Goeritz, a German artist and sympathizer of abstract art, created El Muro Amarillo (The Yellow Wall), a work destined to be symbol of the plastic transition from the Mexican muralist era to the more modern European art trying to preserve the “Mexican” essence in it; a work that ended up being a tangible reminder of the great hypocrisy of the of López Mateos government and his later successor. At the same time, El Corno Emplumado, a literary magazine pioneer in promoting beat poetry and financed by Díaz Ordaz, was later censored for publicly supporting the student movement in 1968.

México, década de los sesentas, periodo en que fue gobernado por Adolfo López Mateos y posteriormente,  Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, marcado por una fuerte represión social. Una época donde,mientras se elogiaba la construcción de grandes unidades habitacionales de desarrollo social y hospitales nuevos, las grandes represiones contra los movimientos estudiantiles y ferrocarrileros estaban a la orden del día. 

Artistas como Mathias Goeritz, artista de origen alemán y simpatizante del arte abstracto, crea El Muro Amarillo, una obra destinada a ser un simbolo de la transición plástica de la época del muralismo mexicano hacia las corrientes mas modernas de arte europeo intentado conservar la escencia de lo “mexicano”; obra que termina siendo un recordatorio tangible de la gran hipocresía del gobierno de López Mateos y su sucesor. Al mismo tiempo, El Corno Emplumado, revista literaria pionera en la difusión de la poesía beat y financiada por el mismo Díaz Ordaz, fue censurada más tarde por apoyar públicamente el movimiento estudiantil de 1968.
